Joanne completed both her undergraduate and Master’s degrees in criminology before attending law school at the University of Victoria, where she focused her attention on criminal law. She began her legal career working for a large Toronto criminal defence firm, where she gained experience conducting criminal trials at both the Ontario and Superior Courts of Justice.
Joanne has a wide range of experience defending individuals facing criminal and youth charges. She has conducted trials on all manner of criminal charges, including violent offences, drug-related offences, driving offences, property offences, and sexual assault-related offences. Particularly, Joanne specializes in defending individuals facing domestic violence and sexual assault- related charges.
Joanne is passionate about both criminal law and her clients. She works hard to ensure that her clients receive a fair trial and she will advocate for her clients’ rights to the fullest extent. She understands that being charged with a criminal offence can be confusing and scary, but she strives to make sure that her clients are supported through every step of the process.
